Refrigerator Repair F.A.Q.
My fridge is not cooling. What should I check before calling a repair service?
First, check the simple things. Make sure the fridge is plugged in and the circuit breaker hasn’t been tripped. Confirm the thermostat is set to the correct temperature, typically between 37°F and 40°F (3°C and 4°C). Also, check for blocked vents inside the fridge and clean the condenser coils, which are usually located at the back or underneath the unit. If these steps don’t resolve the issue, you may have a problem with a fan motor, compressor, or sealed system, which requires a professional.
Is it worth repairing my old refrigerator?
This depends on the age of your fridge and the cost of the repair. A good rule of thumb is to compare the repair cost to the price of a new appliance. If the repair costs 50% or more of what a new fridge would cost, it’s often better to replace it, especially if it’s an older model. However, if your fridge is relatively new or a high-end model, a repair is usually more cost-effective and can extend its lifespan.
What is the average cost for fridge repair in Toronto?
The cost of fridge repair in Toronto or Hamilton can vary widely depending on the issue and the parts needed. Minor repairs like replacing a door seal can be less expensive, while major repairs involving the compressor or a sealed system can be more costly. On average, you can expect fridge repairs to range from $150 to $600, including parts and labour.
When should I call a professional fridge repair technician?
It’s time to call a professional when simple troubleshooting steps (like checking power, temperature settings, and cleaning coils) don’t fix the problem. You should also call for a technician if you notice more serious issues such as:
- The fridge making loud or unusual noises.
- Excessive frost buildup in a “frost-free” freezer.
- A water leak that you can’t trace to a clogged drain.
- The refrigerator is not turning on at all.
- The digital display or controls are not working.
How long does a typical fridge repair take?
Most common fridge repairs can be completed in just a few hours. Our Toronto and Hamilton repair services offer same-day service, as technicians often carry common replacement parts with them. However, if a specialized part needs to be ordered, the repair may take longer.
General Service FAQ
What warranty do you offer on appliance repairs?
We provide a 3 Month Limited Warranty on all appliance repair services. This covers both parts and labor for the same issue initially repaired. It does not cover unrelated problems, third-party damage, or misuse.
What if the part fails again under warranty?
If a part we installed fails during the 90-day warranty period, we will replace it. However, shipping and handling costs are the responsibility of the customer.
Is the warranty transferable if I sell the appliance?
No. The warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original customer who received the service.
Is the service call fee refundable?
No. The service call fee is non-refundable. However, it acts as a deposit toward your final repair cost if the work is completed.
When is payment due?
Payment is due upon completion of the repair. Late payments may incur a 1.5% monthly fee. Collection costs are the customer’s responsibility.
Do you offer same-day service?
Same-day service may be available depending on technician availability and your location. Please call to check.
